Betty Hawk |
Betty Hawks is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Minority Health in the Office of Minority Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Ms. Hawks provides advice and make recommendation on a variety of health issues. In recent years, her main focus have been on women’s health, cancer, cultural competency, and working with community leaders, especially Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Ms. Hawks is a second generation Chinese American, who received her B.A. degree from Vassar College and M.A. degree from U.C. Berkeley, both in socio-cultural anthropology. She was a founder and former President of the Organization of Pan-Asian American Women, the first national public policy organization focused on Asian American and Pacific Islander women's issues. |
